I spent the afternoon musing on Life. If you come to think of it, what a queer thing Life is! So unlike anything else...

Buuuucket statement! Woot! Thanks Kristen, I've often considered doing this:

Stuff I want to do someday...

1. Fall in love. Properly.

2. Learn Latin.

3. Visit these statues:

The Little Mermaid (Copenhagen)

Peter Pan (Kensington Gardens)

C. S. Lewis's Wardrobe (Belfast)

Sherlock Holmes (Baker St, London)

4. Make a real income with my dabblings in fiction.

5. Marry that amazing guy (see No.1)

6. See an end to abortion in my lifetime.

7. Go to Europe, particularly the UK bit.

8. Dance in a long flowy gown.

9. Write a script for a movie.

10. Actually finish Nanowrimo.

11. Change the world! (See 6 & 22)

12. Have at least half a dozen children and give them all a homeschooler's classical education.

13. Learn the cello.

14. Be backstage in a real theatrical performance.

15. Ride in a gondola in Venice.

16. Own a cafe/bookshop.

17. Make a snowman (actually, seeing snow would about do it)

18. Make the language of flowers popular again.

19. Go boating on the Thames.

20. Hug David Tennant.

21. Learn sign language.

22. See the Millennium Development Goals implemented within my lifetime.

23. Never stop seeing the beauty in a place, person 0r situation.

24. Be at my correct weight.

25. Write a song, sing & record it.

26. Live in a great big country house (or castle) in England for a least a week.

27. Write a really good poem.

28. Keep in contact with my homeschool darlings.

29. Learn to be strong.

30. Love God with all my heart, soul and strength and let it show in my life.

In a real dark night of the soul it is always three o'clock in the morning, day after day. - F. Scott Fitzgerald

Just ate an apple for dinner. Excitement.

*Yawn*

I need to learn to be content at all times. I always feel like I'm waiting for something.

I want God to wake me up. I want to feel Him in my soul; I want to feel my soul. It's too easy to forget you've got one most days.

I wish I wrote songs.

This movie creeps me out horribly - but I love this piece of music...

It's funny - I'm not a very warm person (I think), don't know why; but I can't stand cold people. I'm always wanting to reach out and connect, but I never quite know how.

Things you probably didn't know:

When you tell me things about yourself I feel valuable, like a cup with silver in it

I love to lend. Just ask me first

I miss the safety and freedom of childhood

I used to think I could (if I had to) survive solitary confinement and stay sane

I love talking about the really, deeply important things in life

I love the emotional intensity and genre-relevant silliness of musicals

If I were a (professional) singer I'd do covers of music from the 20s-60s

I tend to be over-cautious about loving people. Because I'm afraid of loss

I over-analyse anything and everything
This can be helpful, (like for uni) but mostly it isn't

I'm addicted to ellipses... (and brackets - and dashes)

I won't fall in love unless somebody loves me first

I sometimes have trouble expressing myself verbally. Thus I love it when people finish my sentences. It proves they were listening

I don't usually cry in movies. Sometimes music can make me cry

I love acting, but I'm too emotionally detached to make a truly good actor

Cigarette smoke gives me asthma. I hate the sound of gum being chewed

I wish I were arty

The work of the romantic poets should be compulsory reading

I love to laugh

I get grumpy when I'm hungry (sorry)

I forget practical things sometimes (also, sorry)

I feel like watching Moulin Rouge right now

I wish I knew how to dance

I'm happiest when I'm somewhere far from civilisation with people I love

Scrumptious As A Cherry Peach Parfait

Hullo

This is just a quick library computer post (because something's weird with our internet AGAIN). I miss you all - at least those of you whom I know read this... if I don't know you then there's really a very slight chance you'd be here at all.

Yesterday I:

Changed a dirty nappy
Fried my brain trying to help a fourth grader with his maths
Turned a girl into broccoli
Listened to a seven-year-old read 'Frog And Toad'
Got laughed at by a baby

It was a good day.

Today I:
Felt Mum's baby move
Ate rissoles at a Chinese New Year celebration
Ate organic fairtrade chocoloate icecream
Bathed three beautiful Lee-babies

I also had an MLIA ('my life is average' for the uninformed - check it out in the sidebar) moment
driving home in the car with my dad and my sister. We had my MP3 plugged into the car's audio system and Taiya, who was riding shotgun, had control of the music. We listened to 'Where'd You Go' by Fort Minor because that's the kind of music that all three of us tolerate - and when the shuffling device changed songs - straight into 'A Whole New World' (I'm a wee bit of a Disney afficionado) I expected Dad to switch tracks immediately. I was very surprised when he turned it all the way up and began belting it along with Aladdin! My favourite was when he took the girl's part and wailed along in a painfully high falsetto. I love my Dad. :)

Rude and not ginger.

Amusing text message from my mother; received Blackstump weekend:

'I found your husband he's christian, really cute sk
inny and plays the double bass for architrave and is singing a fairtrade jazz song as i text u! He looks like the love child of steve edwards and scoot'

I find that more than faintly hilarious. Now I wish I had seen Architrave play. After reading this I passed my phone to one of my friends to read it, and the blank look on her face was worth millions. I don't know if she thought Mum was serious, but it took a few moments to process, with me explaining that it's an in joke - my mother does NOT go around matching me to total strangers - I hope! But she's right, you know - my dream boy would be cute and skinny and play the double bass (or any instrument really) and sing fairtrade songs...

Dum de dum de dum. I think I shall take a leaf out of Kristen's book and list cute guys... not something I do often, but now I am tempted... this should be fun...

1stly: David Tennant

Isn't he just edible? And his portrayal of our dear darling Doctor is too delicious. Making Doctor Who a star amongst BBC programs, which is high praise indeed.

2ndly: Dev Patel

I know that my evaluations are chiefly based on sweet characters played by the actors - for all I know all these guys could be rude drunken snobs - but the lovely lovely character of Jamal Malik is enough to give anybody at least a mild crush on Dev Patel. Besides, he's so cuuuuute!

3rdly: Dick Van Dyke
Now I obviously don't mean as he is in his current stage of life, although I'm sure he's just as nice a person as he always was - but in his youth, and particularly in his Mary Poppins role of 'Bert' he was positively irresistibly gorgeous... his simply brilliant dancing and appalling Cockney accent (I watch that movie and feel much more positive about my own Cockney attempts) in that film always have me in fits of delight.

4thly: Michael Crawford

Same as above BUT MORE SO. I feel a twinge of sadness whenever I see a picture of Michael Crawford past the age of about 35, because he was so very pretty when younger. And I mean Frank Spencer/Cornelius Hackl era. I have a weird thing for long skinny legs on guys in suits.

5thly: Sean Maher

And here we move away from tall skinny guys in suits... But we don't move away from suits! I have never seen Sean Maher in any other role than Simon Tam in Firefly, and this one is definitely a case of character crush rather than actor crush; simply because Simon is so nice. Even if he does look a bit like a cross between an undertaker and a Backstreet Boy.

6thly: John Hannah
Again, character not actor. John Hannah is simply here because of his role in Sliding Doors. I didn't even really like that movie very much, but I do love his character.

Starting to get a bit tired of this... silly attention span failing me. Will probably post a secondary part to this list sometime...
read the printed word!
