Movies of 2009: (the ones I saw, at least)
Made me feel sad - one of the movies that you spend the entire time redefining your idea of a happy ending, only to find that the ending is happy - sorta. My conclusion: Daniel Craig seems to be very good at giving hugs - and punches. I'd prefer a hug please.
Inkheart
Bit of a fail so far as book/movie adaptations go... still, love Paul Bettany.
He's Just Not That Into You
Only enjoyed one of the (several) storylines.
Knowing
Crash and fail. One of the all time worst movies ever. Possibly the worst I've seen, although All About Steve has to come a close second.
Star Trek
Lame, cardboard-cut-out characters? And Aaaaaanton Yelchin!
Confessions Of A Shopaholic
Stupid and sugary. Isla Fisher seemed to be having fun. And so did her costume designer.
The Proposal
A mostly harmless (apart from the awkward, unnecessary nudity) mildly entertaining chick-flick - until I realised that Sandra Bullock is 12 years older than her co-star/love interest. Ew, a little!
The Young Victoria
Love, love, love, lovely. :) And very pretty.
Mao's Last Dancer
Adored it!
All About Steve
This movie deserves no mercy. Shockingly horribly bad.
The Princess And The Frog
Disney finally screwed their heads back on and made a charming, lovable and original film again! Score!
Avatar
Watchable but overly long expensive movie with disappointingly fluffy plot and weak characters.
The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus
I don't really know what this movie was trying to do, apart from coping the loss of Heath Ledger and piling on the arty effects. See previous blogs for a review. Looooved Andrew Garfield though... want to see more of him. Oh. My. Goodness. Just IMDB-ed him and guess what? He was in Doctor Who! Awesome!
Sherlock Holmes
Again, expensive film with just one fairly well-acted character (by Robert Downey Jnr, unsurprisingly) - and I want to go and break down the door of the person who wrote the story &/or script! Come on - that plot was the best you could do?
