Musicals are my favourite. I adore a good musical.
Seven Brides for Seven Brothers
I want to marry all seven of them. Or anyone else who can dance like that...
(The second picture is funny in an incredibly dodgy way so I had to put it in)
'Goin' courtin', goin' courtin, oh it sets your senses in a whirl, goin' courtin' goin' courtin', dudin' up to go and see a girl!'
Singin' In The Rain
THE classic. So happy.
'Gooood mornin'! Good morning!'
The King And I
'On a bright cloud of music, shall we fly?'
Probably the only musical (apart from Fiddler On The Roof) that my whole family will watch with me...
Which brings us, naturally, to,
Fiddler On The Roof
Sad and joyful and beautiful all at the same time...
'But look at my daughter's face! She loves him!'
The Court Jester
A recent favourite. Thank you Kristen!
'The pellet with the poison's in the vessel with the pestle; the chalice from the palace has the brew that is true...'
The Phantom of the Opera
Personally I adore Gerard Butler's phantom, but Michael Crawford & Anthony Warlow did pretty good too. (Though I'll admit that the movie Raoul was simply ghastly and the guy from the recent Australian production was heavenly!)
'He's here, the Phantom of the Opera!'
The Pajama Game
Love the music, even if the characterisation is a little thin...
'There once was a man, who loved a woman! She was the one he slew the dragon for!'
Oklahoma!
I only just figured out that Shirley Jones is in three musicals I've seen! Oklahoma, Carousel & The Music Man... good job, Shirley Jones...
I love the strange innocence of this movie; even though not all the themes are entirely wholesome it just has this naive air...
'Peeeeepole will saaaay we're in loooooove!'
Flower Drum Song
A musical that no one but Rogers and Hammerstein could have thought up in the sixties...
'A hundred million miracles are happening every day!'
*Walks away from computer with a billion songs stuck in her head*
“I am looking for someone to share in an adventure that I am arranging, and it’s very difficult to find anyone.”
